Out of small things, BIG things grow...

There's always something very exciting like starting something new.
Taking the first steps on a journey, putting the pen to a fresh sheet of paper, doing something so new and out of your comfort zone that you barely know where to start...

So, I will start here.

I'm not what you would describe as a normal girl in her 'twenties'.

  • I can't take selfies
  • I can't really use modern technology and I can quite easily survive without my phone
  • I don't get modern music
  • I will not accept kindles as book replacements
  • Books and a night in will always win over going 'out out'
  • I look after bees
  • I try my best to eat organic/stupidly healthy food
  • I don't buy anything that has been tested on animals
  • I'm not even sure I understand Instagram, why so many filters?!

But things that make me seem more like the average twenty-something

  • I am useless at relationships
  • I eat a stupid amount of cake/chocolate/biscuits and then believe that a cup of white tea will cleanse and purge my body of said deliciously bad food.
  • I don't always eat organic/stupidly healthy food
  • I have no idea where I am going with my life and what I am doing at the moment
  • I have down days, weeks, months.

So basically I wanted to create a blog that reminded all you lovely people out there that we are only human and sometimes we are too hard on ourselves and we need to stop beating ourselves up so much. Therefore, I am going to try and create a happy space for people to escape to and be assured that it's all okay. We don't need to look like Kardashians, have the perfect love life or have the best make-up, clothes, etc.

So welcome to my enchanting, zesty sanctuary. I hope you like the journey...

What's in the name?

Right.

Here it goes.

My first EVER attempt at trying to be witty, internet savvy and a complete and utter blog genius. I'll let you know how this voyage pans out, but in the mean time I will just celebrate my venture into technology with my introductory post on... well, I'm not quite sure.

If you haven't quite grasped from my opening statement, I am pretty new to all of this. I've read blogs, I even have friends that make them.... but I have never managed to make that leap myself. I've always admired how all these amazingly cool people who live in unimaginable urban-chic homes can write about pointless yet exciting things like socks for dogs or banana-peanut-butter-chicken-soy-milkshakes (minus the milk). I may have made that last one up, but you get the idea.

It was my housemate who actually pushed me into doing this.... she will be held solely responsible if this all goes horribly wrong... she will also receive no credit if this makes me soooo famous I eventually have to turn down offers from Jonathan Ross. Or maybe not?
I suppose that's where my story begins... how this ol'beauty came to be in the first place. So, for my first post (I dedicate it to that companion of mine who started this whole thing off) I will explain why I decided to name myself after the comfiest yet probably most impractical footwear available.

Knitted Wellies <3

Right. It makes no sense and is a quirky, hipster (whatever that is?) sort of name, but I promise that all will become clear if you can bare to carry on reading this scribble.
First of all, I like knitting. Obvious? Yes. My other friend (yes I have more than one)  recently taught me the most basic of basics when it comes to knitting, I had never done it before. But I can't stop, it's like when you dip your spoon into a nutella jar. Just once isn't enough. I AM HOOKED!!
But why is it in the name? Well...
The evil genius that started all of this was telling me how she encouraged her friend to create a blog, simply named Green Jumper... because she likes green jumpers. LOVE IT!!
I think it's becoming pretty clear, to those who are smarter than the average bear, that I 'may' have taken inspiration from said friend. Green being one of my favourite colours, knitting being one of my favourite hobbies. Combined with hunger and the need to choose a name urgently.... TA DA!!!

Alas, those of you who were brave enough to read up until this point, I salute you! Now, there is not much more to say except that I would personally like to thank those of you who are willing to join me on my adventure that will involve ramblings, recipes, stories and general tomfoolery.

So, here we go...
